{ F.A.S.H. I.O.N } Patching up with 2020

Hello People!

2020 is a strange year. Almost like a thriller novel. A mystery everyone wants to solve. A nightmare everyone wants to get out of ! And in all this, we are finding ways to preserve our sanity!

A lot of us are buried neck-deep in "Work" of all kinds.  Even the summers went by without us enjoying a holiday, and so its important to plan A BREAK if not a holiday ! We can never replace travel , but can surely get our dopamine fix with some creative DIY !

The nature is in revenge mode and we know that our consumption choices are under the radar more than ever . As a conscious generation, its time to go SLOW. And this applies to fashion as well. Does that mean we need to STOP BUYING FAST fashion? The good news is - there's another post coming up on that and the answer is coming in that post ! But this post will show you ways of sprucing up your most used DENIMS and elongate their lifespan even more !

Patchwork denims are rarely manufactured  , and if you are a bohemian at heart, this DIY will totally be your jam! When i posted these denims on my instagram, most of you were intrigued and i couldn't see  options similar to this! So i came up with this DIY trick, so you can create yours!

These cloth-patchwork denims got special love from you when I first put the trial room selfie on instagram in 2017 . I spotted this in Zara sale and didn't see this in any other Zara outlet in the whole of Bombay- so hurried to try it on . There were only 2 sizes left. The other was a size smaller. I was skeptical because its not the regular denim and cannot be worn at all times. However my bohemian heart was already head over heels.  When i tried the size which was 2 inches smaller than my original , it squeezed my butt & tummy in an uncomfortable way ! To top it, it wasn't elastic. I walked to and fro- sat inside the trial room thinking it would expand like a miracle. 10 mins. Nothing happened, haha . I asked the Zara folks to help me with the next size or check availability in other stores. Alas, their servers went down and they couldn't track either information. I kept the denim back from where i picked it. I spoke to the zara folks again- Does this shrink further on wash? The guy was like- I am sure you wear denims- they always expand. But I was in still in two minds- what if it didn't expand! Its a high waist style - So its pushing my tummy in and making me uncomfortable! I almost walked out of the store and i looked at it again. I ran back again , picked it and back to the billing counter !!! HAHA. I was not going home without these.

You can have this denim style in a day's time or maybe an hour!!!

How?

1. Pick any denim from your wardrobe
2. Cut square/triangular cloth pieces out of your favourite old cotton blouses/ pillow covers or sheets (Printed or solids ).
3. Use Fabric glue to stick them ( EASY) or if you are a stitching pro- just sew it on!

And done!
If you are a guy reading this, why not try this trend as well.  Pair with a leather jacket for the colder months . I would love to see your DIY project. Share it with me!

{ E.D.I.T.O.R.I.A.L} The Vintage Soul - II

Hello lovely people

Remember part 1 of the vintage soul? Its been a while so you can head here and see the blogpost. The second part of the Vintage Soul was shot on the same day in the same Victorian house museum . And so it prompted me to create an old school photo-story instead of just leaving you with pictures. Going a little 1920s as this house has a lot of elements from that era.

ABOUT THE LOOK:
___________________

The dress is a flea market find from Sarojini nagar , Delhi and the inspiration behind this whole series. It looked so regal in the shop and it screamed vintage opulence. I knew this dress belonged in a vintage victorian setting and hence began my quest to search a museum that will allow us to shoot this series. I added the embellished headband , the heart shaped necklace, heart shaped earrings ( both Limited edition, Zara) and my maroon velour Mary janes all from Zara to bring that opulence. The gorgeous heart shaped pearl earring is from Globus , i bought a few years ago. The satin purse was gifted by Kerastase India for an event so i don't know the brand as it didn't have a tag. The tights are from my favourite Marks and Spencers.

Hope you enjoy the photo story!

{ E.D.I.T.O.R.I.A.L} Spring Meets Fall !

Hello peeps!

Happy Autumn and Happy Spring :D

What do you do when you're a blogger that shuttles between the Northern hemisphere and the Southern hemisphere ? It gets as amusing as "What blog-post am i to write ?" - AW18 trends or SS18 trends!

Obviously these topics are seasons apart and thats the real dilemma . For the uninitiated , seasons in Northern and southern hemisphere are the opposite. Its graduating to Fall/Winter in the northern hemisphere and Spring/summer in the southern hemisphere. I never knew this until i started living in Johannesburg !

So i decided to take up a new challenge & mix the two in this post and give both sides of the globe a fair fashion read! Read on...

This post features my SALE finds from Zara in South Africa . With a delectable oriental print and the most gracious Kimono sleeves, this blouse was an instant grab especially because it was the only piece left.Clearly a great summer piece to go with cigarette pants or even hot pants.

The flared pants in mustard felt very Gucci especially with that floral print at the bottom . Also, this AW18 , shades of yellow are making heads turn even on the runway. The heels ,also from Zara were instant love because a) They are leather  b) Orange leather has always been on my wishlist. c) They match the cute orange leather purse i scored in Dharavi leather market ( Wearing in this post) . The earrings with delicate net and soft fabric beads looked special because of the flower that fits on the ear-lobe .

Here's a BONUS styling tip: In the RGB (Reg-Green-Blue) color-wheel ( scroll to the bottom of this post), blue is the opposite color for yellow. As you know, RGB works as a great reference when it comes to combing contrasting colours- this combination seemed to make so much sense. Whenever in doubt, you can always refer to the colorwheel while mixing and matching your outfits! Happy pairing and hope you liked this look!

{ E.D.I.T.O.R.I.A.L} NO RESOLUTIONS

Hello Guys,

Its been long we met here. I know some of you follow the daily updates on Instagram. I think those updates have all my investment . So much so that the blog gets sidelined unless I am blogging  24x7.

2018, is a year of NO RESOLUTIONS for me. Haha, high five ,if you secretly wished i would say that.
So NO RESOLUTIONS doesn't mean I will take life as it comes. Its just that i will not have molecular goals like last time- for example -read 1 book every month- Don't ask where i am on that- I am still at it. ( That makes it 20 for this year, if i have to continue , haha)

The sound of incomplete goals keeps ringing every now and then and you feel guilty. Frankly resolutions shouldn't make you feel low but should technically fill you with happiness and a sense of purpose. Sometimes you can't stretch to make them happen because some priorities knock on your door.

So lets just keep it simple. I am writing the first post of 2018 on January 16th . So yes, here's a promise to keep writing the blog as often and probably even more- weekly?
Your tremendous support keeps me going and i am not letting distractions come in my way.
This is the 7th year of this blog and i can only tell you, the best is yet to come! Last year, i experimented with a lot of ethnic/fusion looks which you loved- yes on instagram more than here. That tells me, I have so much to post from 2017! Even the travel to Indian towns and Maldives remains only on instagram- so gotta get it here! This year, i continue with more experiments in fashion and traveling to all the new & exciting places on my bucket list!

We had a terrific celebration last year for the blog's 6th anniversary and i cannot thank you enough for being such a sport and participate in those Giveaways worth Rs. 50,000+. This year will be no different!

I cannot disclose everything right now , but my anxiety levels are of a different order this year.
The reason is - YOU! Every day on Instagram i read messages asking me to start making videos.
And then you have requests on how to blog/Go LIVE/mini tutorials/travelogues/health routine .  I read your comments and feel each LIKE as a pat on the back. I cannot reply all the time - but i want to. Your feedback means the world to me . But, I feel so guilty i am not able to meet your expectations, but yes- this year- I will get much closer to this than before ! YAY! Are you with me?
