{ E.D.I.T.O.R.I.A.L} Caravan Diaries - II

Hello beautiful people

Here is the second look of the Caravan diaries editorial . It was so much fun talking about the lesser known Caravan culture of South Africa in the first post of this series. If you missed it, don't forget to click here . This series is a take on the modern traveler who loves to travel the gypsy way, stopping at every beautiful sight ( Just like we did during our shoot in Dullstroom , South Africa ) and soaking in all that the senses can experience . Dressed in their overused T-shirts /cargo pants/denims you can spot them from a distance , but we at TFMQ would love to share some ideas on how you can be a CHIC backpacker- the gypsy way !

If you are a backpacker , its likely that you love " messy " and wear whatever you carry in your backpack. I am about to break the myth that a backpacker or a "CARAVAN TRAVELER" cannot be
stylish. The trick is to carry a lot of pieces in thin fabrics to create a variety of combinations instead of one HEAVY DENIM /cargo pants + jumpers and some STATEMENT accessories .
The statement accessory : my " Flower hairband "is all it took to create an eccentric yet dressy vibe in this look !

ABOUT THIS LOOK:

To imitate the wardrobe of a backpacker , I have used a pyjama pant and a semi-formal blazer- both super light-weight and breezy. Also, they were both bought a couple of years ago . The blazer is a gift by Nik which he picked up on his trip to China and the pant is a flea market find.

Now lets come to the star pieces of this look - The embellished net Bralet ( picked in last ZARA sale) and the flower crown hairband ( WOOLWORTHS). Both the bralet and the hairband instantly make this look super chic. There is barely any weight these two would add to the luggage and yet they pack so much punch. Look for embellished or sequinned crop tops which you can use to layer for a trip like this! For accessories, hair accessories are having their moment right now and every high street store is full of choices right from scarf scrunchies, pearl barrettes , embellished hair-pins to oversized hairbands. Take your pick and don't forget to pack them for your next backpack travels !

{ E.D.I.T.O.R.I.A.L} The Vintage Soul - I

Hello my sweet people.

I cannot explain how elated I'm to present you with " The Vintage Soul " series. The feeling of finally executing a concept after visualising it for over 6 months is inexplicable. As a blogger - creating unique & visually striking content is the only passion and i have been living and breathing this series in my mind since last August . All i needed was an old museum or a restaurant with vintage vibes . Unfortunately , due to a BMC stay on shoots in museums it could not commence when i was in Bombay last October. In the same month when i returned to Johannesburg, i was frantically searching for museums because A) I love museums and B) I wanted to explore the possibility of shooting in one! The dream came true when i booked my visit to Lindfield Victorian Museum which is a house museum . The owner of the house who curated this museum with so much love over the years along with her mom is a sweet lady - Katherine Love. Thanks to her and my favorite girls at SLRPHOTOSA - this editorial comes to reality !

But wait ! It wasn't a piece of cake still.

As luck would have it, load shedding was at its peak that week and scheduled outage at the museum was 4pm which we got to know only when we reached there. We started our shoot at 3.30 pm and finished one look by 4 pm which you will see in Part 2. Luckily got a few shots during the remaining minutes before load shedding and secretly wishing load shedding would never happen but it did. This look that you see here was shot with the help of a "torch light" provided by Katherine and some sunlight peeking in the dark victorian style home. How we wished there was light but we were very pleased with the results nonetheless as we also made use of the amazing under-construction outdoors which Katherine thought weren't upto the mark. We thought it was "rustic" and she nodded almost in amazement - Rustic , i see ! It was a fabulous all girls crew with Sasha & Vanessa from SLRPHOTOSA behind the lens and Katherine kindly helping us with little things throughout the house- such as moving a pile of books which she thought wouldn't be perfect for our shot even though we were ok with it - its like we had a mother figure making sure everything looked neat ! As i always say - there is never anything impossible if you set your mind to it and " The Vintage Soul" series is an example.

The Piscean speaks

Ever drowned yourself in the maze of Zodiac? I have known my zodiac sign since the earliest times I can recall because my mother relied heavily on zodiac traits. My creativity comes from the fact that I am a piscean but not to forget the creative genes from the mother. So i put some of my skills to use in these shots.

The fact that I am dreamy and live in my own world is also what the zodiac sign represents- a dreamy happy fish. Perhaps this is my most favourite trait because I believe anything and everything is possible. I don't give up . Positivity comes easy to me but it is after a constant battle in my mind where the positive fairy wins all the time.

The empathetic trait drowns me in sorrow sometimes because the misery around makes me absorb it and feel terrible about the situation and constantly so. Pisceans tend to absorb the sorrow and hence make for good healers. But in turn , they suffer internally as they have exchanged sorrow for smiles. This is the most challenging trait and to balance this is a battle in itself.

Pisceans are painfully shy; I have always been. But I had to learn the ways of the world. I constantly want to undo this trait. Its so inherent , i have to push myself out of the comfort zone. But there, its happening gradually!

Pisceans are the kindest and truest of friends and can do anything to make the friend feel better . Well, this trait is lovely to have and as a child I must have exhausted myself in friendships that were meant for selfish motives and I came out stronger. Every trait has its pros and cons. Isn't it?

On the Red Carpet, armed with L'OR LUMIERE

I have been promising so many posts for you guys. How to get the perfect red lips? How to .travel light on a 2 day trip? How to wear crochet for summer? Travel posts on Vienna/Prague and the list seems to be endless. I promise I remember them all and I am going to get you those soon. The thing is , every time I start writing these posts, some parcel knocks at the door. And this here, is one of them. If you follow me on Instagram , you must have seen , these beauties came in a cute bag, I just posted. You can grab a bite, I am going to be talking much longer than usual !

This is my ticket to the Red carpet at Cannes ! Red carpet? Yeah, the CANNES fever has rubbed on me and for a few more days , I shall be hooked on to those gorgeous dresses that the shutterbugs caught! I loved all ELIE SAABS. Sonam's black gown and the powder blue one too! I would love to wear them at least once in my life. Now,what we have here is the LIMITED EDITION collection of L'OREAL PARIS makeup for CANNES 2014. Remember,I spoke about this here. I created my look using the moist mat and gelmatic pen! Read on.....

L'OREAL MOIST MAT REVIEW: Glamor Fuschia

1.Packaging: The pictures have done the talking. Its one hell of a luxurious lippie. The gold packaging with that square bubble showing off the shade , And that R engraving on top! What is not to love! Its a collector's delight.

2. Finish: Almost a satin finish when applied. Cannot classify this as a True-matte lippie. Semi-matte maybe? I layered it 4 times so that it stays. And I must say, the 4 applications were smooth. It did not dry my otherwise chapped lips. It doesn't settle into fine lines either. All positives so far!

3. Staying power: It clearly stayed on my lips whole day, with full meals : 8 hours . Remember I layered it 4 times with a light lip-liner. I can go crazy with my testing, so as you can see in the pics above , I am eating my full meal after lipstick application! Test Cleared! Truly impressed.

4.Pigmentation: Heavily pigmented. Covers pigmented lips in one swipe, however , lip-liner recommended as a best practice.This shade looks more purple in pictures, however in person its true bright Fuschia. It has a tendency to transfer on cups/glasses in the beginning.

5.Price: Rs.899 . L'Oreal is known for expensive lippies, but this time I can say this is justified!

6.Removal: It leaves a strong stain on the lips. It did that for me after the 8 hour wear! I had a tough time removing it with my face wash :D :D :D So wearing it to my next party or blogger event!

7.Verdict: Every single shade in this line is a different personality. I love their names too! They are bright and they really make your look POP fresh! I can't wait to try more shades in this range especially what Aishwarya wore to Cannes: Lincoln Rose and maybe MAPLE MOCHA , what many celebs including Sonam wore to Cannes. There is nothing I don't love about this line. Maybe the price , I wish was lower. If the peeps at L'oreal are listening , then this is my request from all of us to make it a 1 on 1 offer or maybe reduce pricing by 40%. We shall be those happy birds then! Don't you agree? L'Oreal Gelmatic Pen Review: Blue Force

1. Packaging: Neat standard packaging. Nothing to boast about. The gold band however looks good.

2. Finish: This applies like butter, even on the water-line. Don't think its brittle. Its very solid and hence application is a breeze. You don't have to worry about breakage.

3.Staying power: It stays a good 4-5 hours without re-touching even along the water-line. Gorgeous, no?

4.Pigmentation: Its heavily pigmented. One cannot ignore the bright pop it adds to the eye. This color is the best blue that has suited me ever. Reminds me of the shade used in the Egyptian mummy paintings. There are no glitter particles and this shade is metallic with the right amount of color.
After 2-3 hours, the blue starts looking more of black somehow.

5. Price: Rs.425 for 5 gm. I think we can easily get an year's usage out of these 5 grams. This pen is addictive, purely because it adds a natural oomph and doesn't irritate even the most sensitive of eyes. The shades blend with your eyes such that it doesn't look like loud make-up. Its a barely there magic!

6. Removal: Tough to remove again. Good news is it doesn't smudge. So baby oil is your best bet to remove this .

7.Verdict: I totally recommed this liner. It is worth every buck! We have a total of 5 shades each closer to black , so you can safely experiment , without your mom telling you that you look like a ghastly green-eyed Panda!

And now, for my RED CARPET LOOK. I have skipped the usual dresses and drawn inspiration from ladies who preferred power dressing at the red carpet. You see, Elie Saab hasn't noticed me yet. Tee-hee :D See celebs on the red carpet with this look here. All my pieces are SALE season grabs. Except the tee-shirt & neckpiece, its all ZARA. Total look stands at roughly 3000 inr.
