Beach behavior: 3 TRENDS that never fail

Miami Beach is where neon goes to die.

Hey guys!
Sorry for the long wait but before you made your beach-vacation plans ,here I am with the post
on beachwear. Our very own land , our very own crazy GOA . I have been here thrice this year
after I broke the jinx of umpteen failed plans & visited Goa for the first time in Feb 2013! I have
fallen in love with this trance-nation and there is no coming back!

If you are in India & you are in Goa, you can definitely go bold with a bikini .Especially in North
Goa, where you find more foreigners than Indians. However the safest stylish beachwear on the
Indian shores are Kaftans, shorts & sun-dresses .

Beach behavior

Here is a break-up of what I am wearing. Except the flip-flops all items I wore are shown here.
These are my 3 favorite trends which will never go wrong on a beach.Try them and tell me how they work for you!

1. NEONS

Overly used and worn since 2013 , neons look amazing in beach-wear including swimwear. Its because the sunlight does special mercy on neons at the beaches.

2. GO CHUNKY

For a carefree movement, its better to go accessory-free on beaches however, if you would like to spruce up your photos stick to chunky floral headbands, bandanas and chunky handcuffs or neck-pieces.

3. FLOWY

A beach represents fluidity, grace and infinity. Become one with the elements by embracing all those flowy garments : Kaftans, maxi dresses & sun-dresses.

Above all don't forget your sunscreen. I use Neutrogena Ultrasheer. You can read the complete review here.

GUESS one to watch!

Today I am sharing with you all one of the most exciting projects as a stylist and fashion blogger.
Here is my contest entry for GUESS ONE TO WATCH International fashion blogger contest.
I was chosen as one of the 10 semifinalists! I then chose to create magic with my Indo-western fusion in this
blogpost.
My partner in crime is Surabhi, who loves doing these shoots even at 6 a.m in the morning!
I've been a nasty scheduler, you see!

Most importantly as I always say, Your views are precious!
For a project so different and something that gave me sleepless nights,I am totally looking forward to hearing your opinions! So go ahead and put on your judgement hats !
This look has been created with a tangerine tie-dye maxi ,also worn here.
A Meenakari heirloom necklace from my mom has been worn on the forehead as a maang tikka or bena.
Animal print leopard bangles are combined with a bangle watch from China (Guangzhou) and a riveted bangle from Delhi's Janpath market.
On the shoulder rests a filigree neck-piece from ebay,HK.
For any enquiries regarding the look , just drop a comment.

Meenakari neckpiece worn as Maang tika ,family Heirloom | Delicate floral neckpiece worn as shoulder-band, Ebay HK| Glass bottle neckpiece ,ONLY|  Leopard print bangles, Colaba| Filigree earrings, Tribal Zone, Read about the maxi here.
Amidst the candy-colored fun that is seen all over the place in the form of pista- green eye-shadows, lavender gloss, mint nail lacquers, lemon -yellow shorts and baby-pink stilettos, my heart still beats for the color of the year -Tangerine!
Gel this with yet another favorite of the fashion houses–the tie-dye and you get what you call a ‘head-turner’ .  This tie-dye maxi dress in tangerine oozes oodles of earthiness. With a feminine feel to it, It is the ideal day-wear for a lunch-date: Earthy and sensual.
Did you just say Animal print?
Tangerine works like a charm with earthy elements. Layer your arms with Pale leopard print bangles, moulded metal bangles and the king of them all a larger than life stud wooden bangle.
This Fiery Bohemian look can do with some bling , the Indian way. Indian brides are incomplete without a Maang-tikka , a hand-crafted hair accessory made out of precious metals like gold or silver interlaid with semiprecious stones or pearls.
The Maang Tikka exudes an enigmatic charm just enough to blind the groom before he sets his eyes on the bride! Don’t you agree? So are you ready to stun Mr. Right?

Maxi dresses : How to wear them?

The dress must not hang on the body but follow its lines.  It must accompany its wearer and when a woman smiles the dress must smile with her.  ~Madeleine Vionnet

If I told you I didn't feel every bit sexy in this long flowy maxi dress, I would be lying!
Considering the Indian climate , I wonder why we don't incorporate more of maxi dresses in our daily dressing.
Absolutely comfy and feminine they are the perfect summer companions.
Perhaps, it is the non-availability of classy maxis that leads to a slower adoption of this trend.

Give the girl her perfect maxi dress and she will rock the world!

This Maxi dress combines 3 of this season's hottest trends- Tangerine, Tie-dye and ofcourse maxi dresses!
I have added a blue jeans vest (or waist )to add a boho touch to the look.

Maxi dresses : The right length

The length of the maxi matters.
It should end just below your ankle. So petite girls can hem the maxi to get the right length and taller than average girls can add a little border for the right length in case they don't find maxis of their length.

Maxi Dresses: Which footwear to choose?

A trip to the local shop or a brunch date with the girls can do with a pair of flats. Flats make the look casual and you can easily move in them.
Maxis work best only with open toe footwear so avoid your closed toe shoes like ballerinas or pumps.
When you head to a party, pair your dress with wedge heels or peep-toe pumps.

Maxi dresses: How to avoid looking like a tent?

Well-tailored jackets ,vests, belts all add to the structure of the dress to avoid a tent-like look.In case of strappy maxis, 3/4th sleeve jackets also help to hide the flab!

Maxi dresses: How to choose Prints

For any body type ,solid colors will always work well. So choose the color that suits you and get yourself a maxi dress in that color.Besides this:

1. Petite frames: Delicate/fine prints work well.Avoid large prints which can weigh you down.Look for
V-necks as they add length.

2.Tall frames: Avoid very large prints as you can look like a walking bedsheet. Medium prints look good .

3.Heavy frames: Absolutely avoid delicate prints.Bold prints will draw attention away from the problem areas. Darker hues & a nice jacket both slim down the look wonderfully.

Maxi dress- fleamarket|denim waist- ONLY|  Golden braided sandal -Bandra| Glass bottle neckpiece- Pieces | |Matte Violet nailcolor- Avon

The Glass bottle with a cork , has a golden key inside. Such a pretty piece from PIECES.

While you walk down the steps you need to hold up the maxi , how ladylike!

And finally I relax after a long walk down those steps and a sunny day!

I am in love with maxi dresses, are you?

Monsoon : Its raining SALE!

The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.
-Dolly Parton

monsoon umbrella fashion
The title can be misleading at times.
If you think this post is only about SALE, then you are mistaken. And intentionally so! I just couldn't let go off these words, crazy me!

I become a complaint box even before the first signs of rain. The molds in my leather footwear, damp feel of my wardrobe inhabitants and the inconsiderate mud splashes from speeding cars all add to my woes.

However, this time around, i didn't quite feel like complaining. For the first time i felt, even the rains had more than the word - GLOOMY attached to them. The way most romantics see it. Not a personality conversion this one, but a sudden appreciation for the laws of nature that need to be executed.

For all the food that i cherish, rain is the agent. Of-course, i have known this ever since I had been introduced to General Science in class 3. But never felt this way before. Maybe its the rising food prices and the fact that i buy my own groceries! hehe.

Or maybe the fact that summers had their way for too long and that first drop of water from the sky felt like a  heaven-sent-change!
Change , it is and change is good!

July-August is when the Monsoon SALE kicks open!
Malls get over-flooded with bee-lines of eager shoppers now carrying their own shopping bags!
As for me, I was not looking for any new additions to my wardrobe except for a Denim waist.

To my surprise , the wish was granted by ONLY.Lucky me!
I bought this pretty light blue waist and then went back to the store to buy another in dark blue!
When I came back home, I went crazy combining it with all pieces I could think of from my wardrobe.

The next best thing about monsoon fashion is NEONS. You see neons in umbrellas, raincoats, gumboots and all things PLASTICKY.
Besides, this year , neon has been trending for quite sometime and people can't let go of it!
This pretty neon-pink satchel bag is every bit an eye-candy and a must-have.
With golden accents it becomes a classy beauty. The tunic here is from H&M and is a pretty piece for the rains with water-color blue print .

How can i miss my favorite Umbrella. Its huge ,its generous , it makes me proud.
It can fight the windiest of Mumbai rains like a Pretty warrior.
And is a pleasure to carry everywhere, except that if you carry it in local trains like I did for almost 2 years,
people are ready with their superlative expletives!
