{ E.D.I.T.O.R.I.A.L } A William Morris summer - III

Hey folks!

This is the final part of my William Morris Editorial and i thought it would only be fitting if you read the idea about this editorial in the first look blogpost of this editorial !

" There are so many reasons i came out with this editorial.

1) The William Morris obsession
2) My love for Dullstroom
3) Never have my editorials been so WEARABLE

Now , let me take you through the above , one by one. READ HERE. "

ABOUT THIS LOOK:

Undoubtedly the most loved piece of the William Morris X H&M collaboration , this dress is reigning the hashtag #WilliamMorrisxHM on Instagram . All the girls in the house  , if you agree after seeing this post , say YAY! I am really lucky to have got my hands on this dress especially when it was sold out worldwide ! Thank you H&M India . They had only size in it which is Size 8 and i usually wear a UK 10. I asked the girls on instagram if this dress ran true to size and jumped with joy when they said it runs loose ! As you can see here, even size 8 is airy but just perfect. This dress comes with a lining and has the most amazing feel! LOVE it ! I know this one is going to my summer favourite for years to come ! Its that kind of dress, which you'll never discard until it really wears away!

We shot this look at 7.30 am in the morning and the temperature was 7 degree until 8 am. I was freezing and while we walked to the dam in dullstroom , i kinda warmed a bit but not enough to sustain !
My expressions are pretty frozen for the same reason ! My eyes watered with the cold wind and my back already gave trouble . Also, i met these sweet horses and instantly included them in the shoot. Its funny their big face scares me. I always feel they can attack me if they get annoyed with my proximity . But the owner assured me they were the kindest animals ever ! But it was a challenge to get my face to rest because of the scare. It was also because i wasn't in a position to run, so i felt stuck , Haha. The horse must be thinking the same !

This whole editorial has been shot with a lot of trouble thanks to my frozen lower back - i was barely flexible after the 3 hour drive to this village. But i will remember this 2 day stay at Dullstroom fondly as i had one of my dream editorials shot here ! As always i cannot wait to hear from you . I hope you like it and let me know in the comment box as i prepare to conceptualise the next set of editorials ! I promise you they will be super artsy!

Finally Found you

Countless assurances, endless stories. They all told me one thing , there's a match for you somewhere. And one day, you will find it. Me, like a hopeless romantic that I am, believed and yearned to meet my match.
As time fled, my curiosity grew, no it wasn't dampened. My faith was unshakable. It was etched so deeply in my mind-  I almost read those stories like hymns. Everyday, with the same conviction.

Not too long ago, I was seen shopping with mum. A very rare combination. She is not a shopaholic. But someone who knows style. She created real pretty frocks when I was a child, every year for my birthday till I was 6. She forced me into Baggy Jeans- Balloon frocks- All that 90s jazz I despised. She plainly dismissed my love for low-waist denims & bell-bottoms when I relentlessly kept piling on those.

However, there are a few shopping moments thereafter , where we shared those "AHA" moments - we found that perfect dress that would suit me in the early 2000s.  And those dresses killed it, everywhere I went. Those were floor length pencil skirts in crochet & printed velvet. So exotic , I could barely walk in them, but when I did, it was a catwalk .

So when this autumn, I went shopping with mom, after maybe a decade, we found our favorite place. We saw this skirt and it was paired with a oriental zipper crop-top. But it was sold out ! He let me try an alteration piece. How cruel! I couldnt sleep. I came back next day and forced him to show me more. I wanted the same skirt color. He showed me the pinks , greens ,but I wasn't impressed. He then phoned another branch, to check if the same skirt I had fallen for was available with a different upper. And yes it was.

Without a blink, I said yes. And I got it home. Both me and mum marveling at the idea of how and where I can wear this combination. We found it.

Till next time,

Maxi dresses : How to wear them?

The dress must not hang on the body but follow its lines.  It must accompany its wearer and when a woman smiles the dress must smile with her.  ~Madeleine Vionnet

If I told you I didn't feel every bit sexy in this long flowy maxi dress, I would be lying!
Considering the Indian climate , I wonder why we don't incorporate more of maxi dresses in our daily dressing.
Absolutely comfy and feminine they are the perfect summer companions.
Perhaps, it is the non-availability of classy maxis that leads to a slower adoption of this trend.

Give the girl her perfect maxi dress and she will rock the world!

This Maxi dress combines 3 of this season's hottest trends- Tangerine, Tie-dye and ofcourse maxi dresses!
I have added a blue jeans vest (or waist )to add a boho touch to the look.

Maxi dresses : The right length

The length of the maxi matters.
It should end just below your ankle. So petite girls can hem the maxi to get the right length and taller than average girls can add a little border for the right length in case they don't find maxis of their length.

Maxi Dresses: Which footwear to choose?

A trip to the local shop or a brunch date with the girls can do with a pair of flats. Flats make the look casual and you can easily move in them.
Maxis work best only with open toe footwear so avoid your closed toe shoes like ballerinas or pumps.
When you head to a party, pair your dress with wedge heels or peep-toe pumps.

Maxi dresses: How to avoid looking like a tent?

Well-tailored jackets ,vests, belts all add to the structure of the dress to avoid a tent-like look.In case of strappy maxis, 3/4th sleeve jackets also help to hide the flab!

Maxi dresses: How to choose Prints

For any body type ,solid colors will always work well. So choose the color that suits you and get yourself a maxi dress in that color.Besides this:

1. Petite frames: Delicate/fine prints work well.Avoid large prints which can weigh you down.Look for
V-necks as they add length.

2.Tall frames: Avoid very large prints as you can look like a walking bedsheet. Medium prints look good .

3.Heavy frames: Absolutely avoid delicate prints.Bold prints will draw attention away from the problem areas. Darker hues & a nice jacket both slim down the look wonderfully.

Maxi dress- fleamarket|denim waist- ONLY|  Golden braided sandal -Bandra| Glass bottle neckpiece- Pieces | |Matte Violet nailcolor- Avon

The Glass bottle with a cork , has a golden key inside. Such a pretty piece from PIECES.

While you walk down the steps you need to hold up the maxi , how ladylike!

And finally I relax after a long walk down those steps and a sunny day!

I am in love with maxi dresses, are you?
