A New Day

Happy New Year guys!

And if you though you were done with those forced wishes to everyone on your contact list and sending you WhatsApp forwards, well its not over yet.

Happy New Year sounds good and gives you a lot of hope. Because the astrology Gurus start forecasting your destiny for the new year a month before January. You return with renewed vigour - because - A new day, a New year, changing constellations , yet another chance?

You scour through zodiac forecasts, Tarot readings, and everything that tells you about the winds of change - and all happy ones only.

What if I told you, every day was a new year day? Because for a fact, it is . Every single day that you wake up is indeed a gift and chance to change things in your favour . This is only if you believe. Just because someone writes positive about your zodiac for a particular year, you regain all the positive energy and perhaps start working in a positive direction. Its all about how you just conditioned your mind on the basis of what you read .

So why can you not believe that every single day will be a day to drive that positive change. If you sleep with the same dreams every night just like you did on the 31st December of every year gone by, every other day you wake up will be a January 1st . In short, every day will be exciting , fresh and inviting. Just ask your mind before it deceives you to wait for another 31st December!

---And I will not like to sign off with just this Gyaan. Because , I want to thank you. Thank you for being with me here, always. I think I am more thankful on instagram for reasons known. I am constantly running Giveaways on Twitter so that you continue to feel good as much as I do talking to you guys! An exciting 2017 begins and I would like to share my new year resolutions in the next post! Until then, enjoy this post and tell me your favourite piece from this outfit! Mumbai Diaries- The old World Charm

I have written about the fascinating travels across the globe. But today it is for Mumbai. I have slowly and steadily fallen in love with the city and its ways. No , this is not going to be a WHAT TO DO IN MUMBAI kind of a post because its one of the most obvious things and I don't want to write what you have read so many times . But I am going to tell you about some very personal favourites and experiences that make me call this place my home.

Meet me on a Monday and I will scream - It can't get worse. This place needs new roads, traffic sense and disciple! On weekends , I am like- Oh I love Mumbai! Thats what this place does to you.

A bitter-sweet feeling run through the city. As you drive through the marine drive towards Fort, the route most tourists would take, you see the melange of palatial sea-side mansions interspersed with unkempt slums. The moment you start exclaiming- This is Beauty- the next scene is that of dust and randomness. Something like clothes lying on road dividers to be dried in the sun! Just how random yet the city moves on.

On the other hand, the victorian era architecture, the portuguese style bungalows with pigeonhole-like windows speak a story you'd eagerly want to hear but know not whom to hear it from. I have always wanted to meet someone who lives in those sea-side mansions. If you know someone, I would love to meet them. Then, There is a mysterious aura about those abandoned houses on the most lust-worthy addresses across Worli Seaface, Marine Drive and many other places & you only sigh- Wish you knew why its lying in misfortune. Places like Malabar hill leave you in awe because the hilly settlements transport you into a quaint Mumbai you will not see anywhere else. The Irani cafes, the Leopolds and the Kyaani's must have been the places your grandfathers frequented. So cool, isn't it! Thanks to bloggers like me, some South Mumbai places like the Asiatic Library brims with amateur as well as professional photographers capturing couture moments and memories as they do wedding shoots. And if this sight-seeing didn't make you hungry yet , there's much more to absorb if you head to Navy Nagar and see the old church. By now you are hungry & if you don't wish to burn a hole in your pocket- Places like Crystal (Estd 1950, Girgaum Chowpatty) and Pancham Puriwala (Estd 1840, Fort) make sure you eat tasty food at your heart's content in under 300Rs for Crystal and under 200 Rs for Pancham.

While I can die to spend at least 48hours of my life in the market of Sarojini Nagar in Delhi, nothing beats the Victorian style accessories in Colaba Causeway( bargain is tough) and of course the stunning Kolhapuri Chappals at Pioneer in under 750Rs for each pair. As I walk the street, there is so much more to absorb and the vibrance of the city gets me exhausted and I return to my nest. This is why i love Mumbai, for most of it. I know you would be tempted for pictures of food that I spoke about and much more, but sometimes I like to sound like a Novel.

{Fashion} In the King's Jacket

The blurring lines between men's and women's fashion are the favorite runway trends of 2016. Androgyny in fashion becomes obvious when you can clearly identify elements borrowed from the opposite sex. However, I would like to coin a new word for a milder androgyny where you can't tell which piece was borrowed. But I cant zero in on one. You may want to call this unisex, but then the shop isnt calling it as one! So lets keep thinking what we want to call this.

Case in point- My pompous jacquard jacket bought from the men's section of a famous menswear boutique in Mumbai. I saw it, I tried it, I bought it, much to the dismay of my better half. I tried convincing he can wear it too, but he wasnt attracted one percent to this jacket which i held dearly.

An year later, I got a chance to pair it with a flowy palazzo and an airy white blouse. This jacket worked wonders for the entire look and he was in agreement this time! The jacket had finally won hearts!

Jacquard Jacket- Pramanik,Matunga| Blouse- Zara| Palazzo- fleamarket| Sunglasses- VOGUE, Neckpiece- Janpath,Delhi

Have you picked up something from the men's section people can't tell? Share with me in the comments!

Serenity

Hello! I am so glad to finally put up the first style post of 2016. Yes, january has been really busy and I missed the blog and everyone of you. Hope this year has started on a positive note and if not, hold on, things only get better.

2016, is special. We will complete 5 years of our digital presence. 5 years of building a lovely community that loves fashion. 5 years of friendship with fellow bloggers and this wonderful blogosphere- much like a dreamland to all of you who see it from the other side. By now, most girls in India aspire to be fashion bloggers and I love that people are becoming more and more conscious about how they carry themselves.

Its a time, when choices are overwhelming in the digital space- blogs, ecommerce websites, influencer gigs on various social platforms. Well, a lot more on this later, but thats whats making 2016 a big shift in the fashion blogging scene in India.

SERENITY? Yes, don't we try to find that calm in our inner-selves. And when it comes to colors, Pantone, made our lives easier (or difficult?) & picked 2 shades for 2016 -> SERENITY & ROSE Quartz . This had most of us wondering but believe me you, they are a marriage made in heaven ! (unless this post makes you think otherwise) They are the perfect shades for someone who has a love for all things feminine & vintage. As for me, I am soaking myself in the glory of all things quaint and vintage- as you can see on My insta handle- Not there yet? Head right now!

Here's the start to all things really pretty rhis year! Cheers & stay connected on the insta handle!
See you there!

Cheers!
Ila
