{ F.A.S.H.I.O.N} Good over EVIL

Hello lovelies!

Here is wishing you all a Happy Dussehra. This post was scheduled for tomorrow but surprisingly the festival shifted and got me working early morning. This festival has always resonated with me since childhood because it celebrated - The VICTORY of GOOD over EVIL.
As a child i always felt strongly that all evil must die and our world be a heaven of good!

This year, the festival comes at a time when #MeToo- a movement against sexual abuse is at its peak in India.
The idea is to make the predators known so that no more innocent women are subjected to their condemnable acts. We live in a world of hypocrisy- but when the good unite - there will always be victory. Luckily a lot of good news is floating as a consequence of some confessions and the defaulters are stepping down. And all this around Dussehra - I am glad.

I still remember as a kid, me and my kid brother erected a Raavan once-  the most frail looking history has ever seen- He even looked cute ( Evil need not look ugly) because his face was made by an inverted clay pot , eyes painted beautifully with felt pens . I realised i couldn't even draw EVIL. But evil is inside, its not what the eyes can see. Exactly why you can never tell a predator by his looks until you've seen his mind! So i decided to make the Raavan evil from inside. His paper body was filled with explosive crackers and a lot of paper trash. The next task of burning the Raavan was the most difficult - who knew destroying evil was difficult ! I thought fire would burn the evil crackers inside - but i forgot his head made of  clay pot was rather rigid just like the ideologies people carry. We took a stick and smashed it till it was reduced to sand. At the end of it we realised it was quite a task to celebrate Dusshera in our backyard - this was our first and last. But we knew Good will always win- even if it takes a lot of efforts - one has to keep fighting !
And don't forget to eat a laddoo after you've got rid of evil - sweet celebrations!

The Road less travelled

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference.
 -Robert Frost

I live by this principle. I have reached a stage where I constantly turn down the "done and dusted". "New" is my favorite word. Something that one has never experienced, instantly catches my attention. Its the curiosity to be different. And different need not be "disconnected" .

As far as my sartorial choices go, I tend to love traditionally inspired silhouettes with a twist of modern. Especially during summers ,I prefer airy bottoms - loose, flowy : inspired by the Indian pajamas. Give them a bohemian twist & you have- "Palazzos"the next best choice.

"Melange" - the ethnic brand from Lifestyle stores created the looks for Deepika Padukone in PIKU. The collection was simple and very very fitting for the "girl-next-door". But how can the eyes miss the strikingly experimental collection at Melange this summer! Flowy Palazzos, Floral Patialas, Printed pants, Printed Churidars and this is just the "bottoms" list. Tassled printed Dupattas, jackets and "statement" versatile accessories have made the  Melange collection all the more desirable. Their kurtas have always been fabulous with a very bohemian vibe. As you can see, I can't have enough of their collection. Infact I have bought 1 more palazzo today. Whats your pick?

Outfit 1: Orange Kurta.Palazzo pant, jacket, earrings- All Melange
Outfit 2: White short kurta (tucked in ), Palazzo pant, jacket, earrings, neck-piece- Melange
Bangles- Only,Colaba
Wedge peeptoes- Charles & Keith

And, here's a little glimpse of the launch event of this collection with Piku - Deepika Padukone & look what else they have in store!!! Tempted much?

Till next time, Stay unique . Stay stylish!
Love,
Ila

GUESS one to watch!

Today I am sharing with you all one of the most exciting projects as a stylist and fashion blogger.
Here is my contest entry for GUESS ONE TO WATCH International fashion blogger contest.
I was chosen as one of the 10 semifinalists! I then chose to create magic with my Indo-western fusion in this
blogpost.
My partner in crime is Surabhi, who loves doing these shoots even at 6 a.m in the morning!
I've been a nasty scheduler, you see!

Most importantly as I always say, Your views are precious!
For a project so different and something that gave me sleepless nights,I am totally looking forward to hearing your opinions! So go ahead and put on your judgement hats !
This look has been created with a tangerine tie-dye maxi ,also worn here.
A Meenakari heirloom necklace from my mom has been worn on the forehead as a maang tikka or bena.
Animal print leopard bangles are combined with a bangle watch from China (Guangzhou) and a riveted bangle from Delhi's Janpath market.
On the shoulder rests a filigree neck-piece from ebay,HK.
For any enquiries regarding the look , just drop a comment.

Amidst the candy-colored fun that is seen all over the place in the form of pista- green eye-shadows, lavender gloss, mint nail lacquers, lemon -yellow shorts and baby-pink stilettos, my heart still beats for the color of the year -Tangerine!
Gel this with yet another favorite of the fashion houses–the tie-dye and you get what you call a ‘head-turner’ .  This tie-dye maxi dress in tangerine oozes oodles of earthiness. With a feminine feel to it, It is the ideal day-wear for a lunch-date: Earthy and sensual.
Did you just say Animal print?
Tangerine works like a charm with earthy elements. Layer your arms with Pale leopard print bangles, moulded metal bangles and the king of them all a larger than life stud wooden bangle.
This Fiery Bohemian look can do with some bling , the Indian way. Indian brides are incomplete without a Maang-tikka , a hand-crafted hair accessory made out of precious metals like gold or silver interlaid with semiprecious stones or pearls.
The Maang Tikka exudes an enigmatic charm just enough to blind the groom before he sets his eyes on the bride! Don’t you agree? So are you ready to stun Mr. Right?
