Beach Vacation 101 for the Indian Bride

The summer wedding season is back! After a tiring sweaty wedding in the sun, a beach break a.k.a honeymoon is the most sought after option. I am assuming dear reader, that you are either planning your beach honeymoon as I write or you are just planning a beach vacation. If its the latter, you might want to read my previous article here for beach fashion 101. If you are hitting the beach immediately after your wedding , take the cue here And men, if you are reading this, please pass this on to your bride-to-be:

1. The HENNA

Guess what peeves the beach bummers when they see those henna covered legs of the bride on a beach! I said it!
If your legs are tattooed with Henna/Mehndi, Please DO NOT wear shorts. The combination of anything short with henna clad legs is terribly unattractive. Especially since the henna is erasing in an uneven manner it makes it look worse. Instead opt for Sexy sarongs that reach your ankle over your swimwear. There is nothing more feminine than flowy maxi dresses which are halter neck or tubes. Alternatively you can pair tanks /spaghetti tops/tube tops with maxi skirts. The bottomline: Cover the Henna!

2. The SILVER ANKLET aka PAYAL

Ok, so your mom-in-law gifted you this thick silver anklet on the wedding which you just can't seem to take off your feet. I would suggest you wait till your vacation gets over and go back home to those beloved anklets. These metal anklets just don't work at the beach. If you are so fond of anklets , you might want to substitute your silvers with a beaded anklet or a black thread anklet or maybe something that is made of shells, but no traditional SILVER please! It looks off-the-mark with beachwear.

3. The FOOTWEAR

Its best to wear Flip-flops on the beach . You must be well past your teenage years to wear those KETOS that look hideous, or if you are thinking CROCS, NO WAY! Lets embrace the beach sand with pretty flip-flops in pop colors like yellow, red, blue etc.

REVIEW: Nyassa Olive Oil Cardamom Soap

Brand: Nyassa
Soap  :  Pure & Natural Olive Oil Cardamom Soap

Type : Handmade olive oil soap
Price : INR 250

Weight: 100 gm

What the product says:

Contains: Cardamom Essential oil : Cardamom essential oil has good anti bacterial properties when applied in a carrier bse to cuts, scrapes and abrasions. 100% Vegetarian. For All skin types.

Look how neat the soap packaging is!
All decorations are mine!

Fragrance: It has to get an A+ when it comes to the aroma of cardamom. It doesnt smell like cardamom. It is cardamom! Can't describe it better!

Experience: It lathers light indicating yet again a minimal use of harmful chemicals. The feeling after each bath is so soothing because of the aroma and the body feels soft and moisturised. Its an aromatherapy wonder!

Form: The soap feels like a slab of smooth butter. Surprisingly it doesn't melt after bath ensuring no wastage. It doesn't slip while usage. I prefer to keep my soap in an open ceramic dish as seen here before.

Final Verdict: The soap lasted me a good 1 month 10 days with single person usage. Except the price everything is so good about this soap .I cant think of any other soap with a cardamom aroma along with the goodness of olive oil which you can feel on your skin. It can soothe your mind and take you to a zen haven! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Remember the soap I reviewed last time? In case you want to go back and read it, click here. These two are my favorite Nyassa handmade soap picks all year round!
Btw they have mango too ;)

TRIED & TESTED: Kitchen Secrets for a glowing acne-free skin!

I know this is a little off-topic. But this is surely going to help all my readers who suffer from an overly oily skin and have a perennial acne problem. Those who know me personally, know about how I am troubled with acne since a decade. The best of treatments clear my acne for a while and then they are back again. I recently stopped getting the peels done as it was ripping my pocket and a friend told me to not be so regular with peels. They are chemicals after all. My skin refuses to be at peace. For me acne management is a job for a lifetime it seems.

Not related to any of the above, I started a healthy & Tasty breakfast drive at home. The reason: I was gaining weight due to unhealthy lunch/dinner meetings. A week later, what do I see An acne -free skin! I am stunned and doing the happy-dance. Besides keeping my weight in check, I got an added bonus. And now I bring my experiments to you.

Catch a glimpse of my breakfast on my Instagram feeds. If you have queries on any recipes, drop me a comment. I will be happy to answer:

Girls in their Summer Jackets

It's downright undignified how many blazers I've bought over the years. And will continue to buy. They immediately give shape and add authority. With the perfect blazer, anything is possible.
-Rashida Jones

I will be echoing these words soon. The urge to bill a blazer at first sight is the latest obsession in my shopping diaries. Its like how I gravitate towards a cupcake. Slowly, stealthily like a child on a guilt-trip. A swipe of the card and I behave as if that was accidental! Besides brands like VERO MODA,ONLY, KOOVS.COM ,ZARA, PROMOD ,more and more flea markets are increasingly carrying blazers/jackets. Luckily these jackets include summer jackets suited to the Indian summer. After all layering in summer is a way to beat the sun! The Indian fashionista has embraced the trend and it looks like its here to stay. Trust me , but once you slip into a well-fitted blazer, you might wonder where they were all these years!

Here are 5 reasons why Well-fitted BLAZERS are a blessing in disguise:
1. They make you look SLIM
2. They add instant Glamour
3.They add instant authority
4. They transform you from a girl-next-door to a DIVA!
5. They can be worn over anything . Yes anything from cigarette pants, jeggings ,skater skirts, maxi skirts ,minis, shorts , jeans and the list goes on!

The most Important: HOW TO CARE FOR BLAZERS/Summer Jackets?

Blazers cost a bomb.Yes, its rare that you may find them under INR 1500 bracket unless its from the street-markets. Even then every blazer is like a gem in the wardrobe & demands special care without much fuss.

3 COST-EFFECTIVE WAYS TO CARE FOR YOUR BLAZER/SUMMER JACKET

1. Hand wash is recommended and not machine wash.
2. Never wash them in powder detergents; only 1 wash of even expensive powder detergents can cause irreversible damage to the delicate fabric and shine of the blazers.
3. Use only pH neutral liquid detergents like Godrej Ezee liquid detergent. Yes, the same Ezee which is used for washing woolen and winter wear. It conditions the fabric making it soft and fluffy & gives you that peace of mind.
4. For wool blended blazers, always try to brush the dust off with a soft brush in case you do not wish to wash it often.
5. Do not wring them and always dry them flat on a surface. Hanging them from a hanger might deform them.
6. Avoid dry cleaning unless it’s a rayon/viscose or sequined blazer. For wool, cotton, linen, mild washing with Ezee will work best!

Hope these tips were helpful!

Have you shopped your summer blazers yet?
