{REVIEW} The story of Gillette Venus &:

"One dimensional labels, limit your potential. Use your AND"

One of the most powerful messages in recent times by my a men's grooming brand that forayed with a product line for women as well. What does it take to broaden one's thinking? Probably an "AND". We are labelled and put in a box . You are "pretty" or "stupid" or "skinny" or "fat" and the list goes on. Its time we tell the people, we are much more than that! Watch this video to know more:

Goosebumps anyone? I respect Gillette for coming up with such a strong message that helps us fight the labels. Yes, you are a bunch of million adjectives- a human being cannot be one-dimensional in nature.
When someone says- She has great legs. Our imagination stops right there and even we label her the same while she is beyond great legs! So lets start using "AND" and telling the world how wonderfully
endowed all of us are and we continuously evolve which means there are more adjectives to follow! Just use your AND :)

The Gillette VENUS Razor:

This has been my little secret since 3+ years. Even before its launch in India, I got hold of it from a store that stocked imported goods. Since then , I was hooked on ! No quick fix like this for smooth legs. Infact, this is the only method I use for hair removal and my only cry is that my hair grow post 7 days! But then, its fine with me as I don't feel the need for smooth legs when I am not exposing my legs all the time! It takes about 10-15 minutes to slather on the shave gel, which is also from Gillette and get rid of the hair-growth! No fuss, no pain, no risk! I buy a pack of 5 cartridges and each cartridge lasts me 2 to 2.5 months based on how often I use it! Here's what the brand has to say:

The first 3-blade razor designed for women! The Venus Original razor features protective cushions for a smooth, close shave.

  • 3-blade smoothness
  • Protective cushions gently smooth out skin for a close shave
  • Blue indicator strip fades away when you are no longer getting the optimal Venus shave
  • Easy-to-change cartridges
For a 3D-view, check out their US website here.
This has to be the best product in its category so far! And I can't wait to see more variants making their way in India, look at the blade selection available in other parts of the world!!! They even have a cute travel size RAZOR! OMG! I'm gonna go crazy collecting once these are launched in INDIA!

On my trips to Europe, I found these but they were so expensive, I thought I rather wait for them to arrive here!

And now that you are excited enough to try Gillette Venus, why not visit their Facebook page and look at all the interesting tips: http://www.facebook.com/GilletteVenusIndia

My thoughts:

I will be crisp and clear- I like this foundation . Here are my top 5 reasons why:

1. Varying coverage depending on wet or dry application ensures you always have even looking skin
2. Besides coverage, the benefits of SPF 20 & Vit.C saves you from the Sun & excess melanin.
3. The foundation case esp personalised , is a thing of beauty!
4. Its reasonable as the cake costs Rs.550 & the case at Rs.400 is a one time purchase!
5. Suits my dusky skin without looking cakey. It looks very natural after application.

Few TIPS:

1. Use wet application to get better coverage.
2. Always sanitize the sponge after use.
3. This makes for a wonderful gift, so don't forget to make the ladies in the house happy ;)

CONS?

1. The fact that it has 4 shades is a bit of a downer. Though after all the bloggers met and we each had 1 shade that suited us, it was for sure that these 4 shades are adaptable. Also the fact that they are suited to the Indian complexion, was proved when more than 15 people with different skin-tones used it. So my advise will be to visit the Za counter and get your perfect recommendation.

2. Availability is always something with ZA as its a brand with its presence in big cities. But then once you find your shade, you can always refill online!

GIVEAWAY

The wonderful people at ZA want 1 of my lucky readers to own this little thing of beauty and that too personalised just like mine! So go ahead and lets hope you win it!

My experience
___________

A small pea-sized amount is required to wash the face. It is a cream-based foaming facewash . Personally, I find foaming face washes very drying even for my oily skin as its important to keep the face hydrated and moisturised even if its oily. This face wash left my skin feeling fresh and clean however I felt it was drying my skin. I immediately felt the need to use a moisturiser . I therefore opened the Global ZA website and found out the usage. As you can see in the image below, the usage is face wash followed by toner and the moisturiser ,sealed with the collagen cream. I luckily had the moisturiser which is Elle Beauty awards winner for 2014. After that I felt my skin was finally feeling good. So , for me this delicately scented face wash will work only if I follow it with a moisturiser or else it is mildly drying. I have seen other people with just the opposite opinion however, you can only try it yourself to judge if it works for you. As for the anti-ageing bit, I strongly feel the Za collagen cream is my best friend and I could live solely on that. About the face wash's effectiveness to fight the anti-ageing process we might have to stick to the 4 step process to know the real results.
The 100 ml tube will last a good 3 months with an extensive usage (Ideally twice a day is enough).  This face wash is part of the Perfect solution range and the recommended usage as per Za's global website is explained in the image below. I will advise trying the face wash followed by a moisturiser.

GIVEAWAY!

What's inside QUIKR.COM {REVIEW}

The funny & witty advertisements by QUIKR on TV would tempt anyone to try their fate on QUIKR.COM. After all , everyone is looking for their perfect match- ALL THE TIME!

Buyer Aur Seller ka Perfect Matchmaker? Lets find out if I met my match.

Blogadda invited me to SPEND Rs.5000 on QUIKR this Diwali. Let me tell you I was on cloud 9 at the thought of spending Rs.5000. But when I began searching Quikr , I felt like I am in a fool's paradise. I didn't know what to do with the 5000 Rs.I had to find my perfect match in 4 days! This is when I shut down my PC & went back to bed thinking about all things I keep wishing for.

It just struck me , I wanted a branded watch which adds elegance to my formal dressing at work. I didnt mind using an expensive branded watch if it was maintained well.I found this Casio watch after I added the keyword "CASIO" (as I am fond of casio watches) listed for Rs.6000.

LINK: http://mumbai.quikr.com/Sheen-Casio-womens-White-Dial-Watch-W0QQAdIdZ183863662

My experience:

1. The phone number of buyer was listed.
2. I called and asked seller (hereafter referred to as "Emma" ) to send clearer pictures of the watch.
3. I asked for final price and she said- She will sell it for Rs.3000
4. Our houses were far, so Emma said she will send a guy with the watch & I pay him if I like it .
5. I was to pay Rs.150 even if I didnt buy the watch to compensate for the courier charges.
6. I saw the watch, fell in love & instantly paid Rs.3150 for it.

The Fool's paradise turned out to be a paradise for me. Look at the watch specifics on casio website , this one is indeed special .Priced at Rs.9000 and studded with swarovski elements on a mother of pearl dial. It looks as new as possible! QUIKR has done something , I could never imagine. Could you?
And 5 stars to the amazing seller who was so cooperative.
And yes, I am on cloud 9 , totally!

But wait, I was to spend 5000Rs and instead of exceeding by 1000Rs as I feared; I am left with 2000 more. Damn! I had fewer options for my next purchase as I didnt want to over-spend!

I turned to the handbag section as I am a handbag hoarder, I shamelessly fell for this quilted Accessorize beauty.
LINK: http://mumbai.quikr.com/Accessorize-Black-stylish-purse-Brand-New-W0QQAdIdZ163448749

My experience:

1. I emailed the buyer asking about authenticity of the bag
2. The buyer told me reiterating from listing that this bag was bought from Accessorize store in Singapore Airport -Terminal 2 on 21st July, 2013 and that he still has the tags intact ,however he has lost the bill.
3. I enquired on price (listed as 1545Rs) but since it was SGD 44 ( Rs.2000 as per conversion, he said it was already discounted. I did not want to argue much as I thought the bag looked really nice.
4. He agreed to courier me the bag after I pay him online . Since courier amount was Rs.60 , He adjusted and made total to 1560INR.
5. I received the bag in 2 days. To be frank, I was disappointed because the bag looked smaller than I imagined from the photos. It also had a 30$ tag along with 44$ tag which meant it might be on discount.
Even if it wasn't on discount, I felt it was a lossy deal as the bag hardware in gold was losing its color. I probably did not negotiate well on this one. Nonetheless , a fine bag to use when you go out shopping.

TIPS for shopping on QUIKR:

1. Be sure of what you want before you hit Quikr, or the options will confuse you.
2. Always talk to the seller on phone and not through mails/messaged. I noticed my first purchase was fantastic because I spoke to he seller personally to tell her what my expectation was. When buying 2nd hand products, its important to set your expectations.
3. Always insist on a way in which you may turn down the product if its not upto the mark. You can mutually agree on the terms. For example, in my watch purchase I was clear that if I do not like the watch i will pay only for the courier guy's delivery charge.
4. Ask for more photos of the product in case you do not intend to follow the RETURN route. Also ask the seller to wear the product and click so that an estimate of product size is obtained.
5. QUIKR can be a boon if you follow all above steps! Go there if you have the courage to wear a second hand premium product. There are dealers too, but i did not try.

HAVE YOU TRIED QUIKR???

Letter from a friend...

Few days ago, I got a call from my old friend who used to study with me in school and was a very good friend. We became pen friends after she left for a different city. We talked for hours laughing at all the silly letters we wrote to each other. We used to share our photos with each other showing our new toys and new books in those postal exchanges. Sometimes, we even shared newspaper cutouts showing what we want to try next- I once sent her a cutout of some cream biscuit brand I badly wanted to try!
We just said it almost at once- Lets write back again!
Excited about the idea of writing through postal exchanges again, I went to the photo-studio after what seemed like ages and asked the guy to customize a postcard for me with a photo. That was from my birthday when I was 10. Sounds old right? But that was the only picture I had of hers. I wanted to write to her on that custom postcard.
She received it and was delighted, while I patiently waited for hers to arrive. I came home to this huge A4 size envelope. God! I couldn’t be more happy, thinking of all the things it contained. I opened it and saw my poster size photo from the blog - Khoobsurat moments. She signed below, FRAME IT!
P.S : I also want khoobsurat hair like you, coloring my hair with casting crème gloss tomorrow .Your Khoobsurat friend, xxxx.

Khoobsurat moment # 4: Taming the Bird’s Nest

What is a fashion-blogger’s life like?

Ideating/writing/blogger meets/shoots/events .These 4 words pretty much sum it all. No matter how glossy it seems because of the various Front-page & page-3 events we mark our presence with, it is equally stressful.
On weekdays, after-work hours generally end in events hosted by various brands. Last Friday, I was invited to style myself for a stylish event and it was post 6pm. I took a phantom rickshaw ride to the place which was about an hour away. Yea, and you thought we always get pick-up drops!!!
By the time I reached, the rickshaw guy had almost killed me with his amazing braking skills at the speed of 100km/hr on 100 meter stretches! I got out of the phantom ride with hair looking like they were planted on my head by pigeons while I was cooking that famed Birbal’s khichdi for hours outdoors.
I walked in without caring how I looked, as if that was the latest hair trend I drank some water ,filled my tummy with hours de vours and styled myself in my favorite Pakshi dress which had sparrow prints on it. While in the trial room, I brushed my hair with patience & love. They were tamed to my surprise in 5 mins. No gel used!
When I came out for the shoot, the first thing the photographer told me, “I can’t believe you fixed that nest on your head inside the trial room! My God, was there some magic wand to make your hair look so bouncy?”
I felt amazing because it came from Bollywood paparazzo, who takes pictures of all Bollywood celebs at various events. Yet another #KhoobsuratMoment. While I happily posed for the shutterbugs, I quietly thanked L’Oreal Paris for having me try the Casting Crème Gloss . You have given me gorgeous moments!!!

No Bad hair days, Welcome #Khoobsurat hair

Hello Guys!

The weekend was spent writing hours and hours for the blog. I was compiling the wonderful moments from my trip to Vienna, Austria last year. I remember how on the 2nd day of my trip I had a bad hair day, thanks to the chilly weather , (5 degrees!!! ) and no hair dryer! My hair doesn't stand more than 2 days after hair wash. It turns oily and sticky. I felt almost dejected that my photographs wouldn't turn out well and my travel journal would look crappy! And it did! Bleh!

Yesterday, I was suddenly invited to an event and I was an hour away from it!
It was like a de ja vu! I was disappointed as I hadn't washed my hair for 2 days. I looked into the mirror. And I looked into the mirror again. I ruffled my hair in disbelief. Who would believe my hair were as behaved as the day I washed them? Its the humid Mumbai weather and the hair looks happy and shiny! Not sticky!

Ok. Miracles do happen. I breathed a sigh of relief. Did a little happy jig. Combed my hair and put on the moist mat lippie. The Casting Creme Gloss from L'oreal Paris has done the trick. Where were you all these days?

#SecretsRevealed : My {ZA} beauty regime

Hello lovelies!

We had an amazing #SecretsRevealed contest on Instagram and twitter! It was so much fun reading your secrets. If you missed all the fun, read all the secrets of the 10 winners and more contestants on our twitter page or Instagram page.

Now, its time for me to reveal my Secret to a healthy skin. I have an OILY, ACNE-prone in short- TROUBLED skin! More than a decade of consulting the best dermatologists and spending $$$ on my treatment , I was still looking for that perfect elixir that will make my skin glow with health without the doctor's help. I discovered a few magical products through my dermatologists but then they were only managing my acne. Blemishes were getting better with glycolic peels but then you can't subject your skin to regular chemical peels and they are so expensive approx 3000 per peel!

Ever since I tried Za day protector , I have come to realise the meaning of even-toned skin, which very few people enjoy. Read the full review here. I cannot imagine a day without this wonder. It has reduced my blemishes. As for the nights, its a common myth that oily skin needs zero night regime as it might turn greasy. Believe me, with Za night cream , you will only wake up to healed, healthy skin.

ZA from the house of Shiseido, has been a blessing for me. These guys know their stuff like no other! After all , Japan is known for innovations and japanese women for that flawless skin. Its been 15 days & I can tell you, YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS night regime:

Products:

1. Za true white cleansing foam
2. Za true white toner
3. Za true white night cream

Usage:

1. Cleanse face with foam. Use half a pea-size. Yes, very little product is required to lather!
2. Dab your face with the toner using your hands or cotton
3. Apply night cream . Pea-sized amount applied on the face in dots is enough.

1. Za True white Cleansing foam(100 ml)

This magic tube lathers like crazy in smallest amounts. It has small granules which also exfoliate gently, while removing the dirt .It doesn't dry your face and your face feels very clean. Perfect cleanser for that oily skin!

2. Za True white toner(150 ml)

The toner is suited for both day/night use. My skin feels hydrated after applying this toner. It absorbs beautifully.

3. Za True white night cream(40 gm)

This translucent beauty is the lightest night cream I have ever used. It has a gel-like texture. It is absorbed instantly and makes your skin feel smooth and supple.

RESULTS after 3 weeks :

1. Healthy looking supple skin
2. Reduced blemishes
3. Reduced acne break-outs

REVIEW: Legend of the Cranes

ANARKALI: Santacruz market | Ring: Dadar | Lips: L'oreal Moist Mat in Glamor Fuschia| Eyes: L'oreal Gelmatic in blue force| Face: Deborah Milano BB cream, Oriflame Very Me peach me skin glow

HELLO AUGUST! And Hello , new home! My excitement was all over Instagram/Twitter/Facebook as I crossed each milestone in designing my dream house. Small, cosy and blue.I will give you a detailed peek later!

All things bordering turquoise make me go weak in my knees. When I was browsing through the INDIA CIRCUS website, I was instantly attracted to all things titled: Legend of the cranes. There was a visiting card-SOLD OUT, Iphone cover-SOLD OUT, purse-SOLD OUT. There was a mug, but I don't drink coffee. And then I saw these 12"cushion covers in poly-velvet.

I have found a mysterious positivity in this design. Its not just the color, but the cranes as well. Though INDIA CIRCUS by Krsna Mehta is a label synonymous with all things Indian, there is something very oriental about this design. Most of his designs combine Mughal elements with a surreal panache. The other favorites are art deco with a dash of Mumbaiya masala. The colors are seldom dull. They make me happy. And this is the first time I have paired an Indian attire on the blog. Hope you like it too!

Getting back to the cranes , FENG SHUI associates cranes with good luck and prosperity. A pair of cranes denotes fidelity and faithfulness. The Japanese call it the Bird of Happiness. The chinese see this magestic bird as a symbol of happy, smooth and long life. Kept in any corner of the house in the form of a painting or image, the crane brings prosperity to the home. I am not a believer of old beliefs, however this design has got me thinking.

P.s: They ship to over 200+ countries. So pretty readers across the globe should rejoice :)

MY ZESTEXPERIENCE!

I have never in my life found myself in a situation where I've stopped work and said, 'Thank God it's Friday.' But weekends are special even if your schedule is all over the place. Something tells you the weekend has arrived and you can indulge yourself a bit.
-Helen Mirren

This precisely defines a blogger's life who has a full-time job besides a blog to keep! Pretty much defines me. I am working 24x7 and it makes me happy. And when work comes in the form of a weekend getaway to Goa, it only gets better! When the people at Blogadda popped the question, all I could say was YES! I promised you all the updates as we started our packing! I am sure you enjoyed the week before the trip on TWITTER & INSTAGRAM for all the crazy packing/styling updates. In case you missed it, I am sharing it all here! The people at SPLASH , ACCESSORIZE and KOOVS.COM gladly agreed to partner in the crime! And I am glad you liked what I wore. Thanks for your lovely feedback!

So , all you curious people, here's what I did at the ZEST showcase:
Date: 27 July
Venue: Zuri White sands resort,Varca Beach, Goa
Hosts: Blogadda & TATA Zest

So who were all the people with me?: About 50 TOP bloggers across India with their blogs in various categories like Technology/Fashion/Beauty/Lifestyle/Food/Photography/Parenting/Life/Personal and the list goes on!

What was in it for me? I had the most amazing time meeting so many passionate bloggers across India with different perspectives. I also got a chance to lay my hands on a Gear-less automobile that boasts of being the best in its segment and I can only be more sure about that, thanks to my driving partner. Read my mini car review here.
Why should you be Reading my car review? Because I am like any other consumer who understands what she wants. My needs go beyond technology.(Oh btw,Don't forget I am a computer Science Engineer) I look for luxury, comfort, safety, personality in a car.You can go to various technology websites to read the actual technical specifications of the TATA zest. But if you want to hear from a consumer's point of view, the description changes. If I say - "This peplum trend in galaxy prints with tailored palazzos in solids gives you a slimming silhouette " . You might just run away from my blog. :D
That my dear friends is the technical specs of a fashion trend . Instead if I was to say that -"Do you want to head out to a girl's day out in a comfortable yet chic way? Pick your tops in Peplum trend which have a frill at the waist in bright prints and combine it with wide-legged pants which are amazingly comfortable and chic aka palazzos. This look makes your waist look thinner and almost hides that bottom cellulite ."

The second statement is something you can relate to and might be tempted to try. So, do read my review if you also feel that Gear-less driving is your thing!

In this post I take you through the most amazing weekend I spent with fellow bloggers and mind you, I had no time to myself because I was LIVE blogging/tweeting/instgraming besides 15 minutes breaks for re-fuelling and 10 minutes at ZURI's most amazing private beach.
