[Review] La Vie En Rose for the dusky Skin

L'oreal Paris has been wooing the hearts of lipstick lovers, since they launched one of the most successful range - The Pure Reds. It had bright shades that suit all skintones just like that!The perfect reds were found!And I totally swear by all of them. I had so many HG shades in a single collection!

 L'oreal Paris has now come up with the La Vie En Rose collection which promises a pink for everyone. I am a die-hard pink obsessed girl. I can have everything in pink, even my breads :P

 Its never difficult to find a pink, so there are high expectations from this range! Also, following the successful pure reds, the pinks have big shoes to fill. When I made my selection from the la vie en rose collection, Unlike the pure reds collection, I found only few pinks suited the dusky/dark skintone .Most of the pinks are very light and sheer. There is however, one noticeable thing about these lippies, they smell like your mom's dressing table from the 90s. That rose smell is so reminiscent of the early days when we envied Mom's collection. Nostalgia might grip, I warn.

 So, Here's your guide to the perfect La Vie En rose pinks, if you are a dusky/dark skintone girl.

L'extraordinaire Mat: I just knew these shades were meant for the dusky/dark skintone and beautifully so. This formula in liquid lipcolors is one of the better ones L'oreal has ever launched. These colors pop bright like never before and after a few minutes of application settle to a semi-matte tint. Again, they are buildable and leave behind a beautiful tint, after heavy meals. I downed a bowl of nachos and bean sliders without losing any of the intensity of the gorgeous "Magnolia" by Julianne. Hands down my favorite shade. Also, in this picture Magnolia was just applied. After 10 minutes it became a really beautiful color brighter than what it shows here. Sonam's Azalea comes a close second and looks extremely beautiful in pictures as you can see- the perfect Hot PINK! You gotta grab them both.

Color Riche Moist Mat: Unlike the previous moist mat range, these lippies run sheer and are buildable to a color that actually shows on the bullet. This however, makes it necessary to wear a lipliner if you have pigmented lips as the lipcolor pigmentation is moderate. The finish isn't matte but satin.They are also very hydrating. As I said they smell of lovely roses or rhubarb, but the fragrance naturally wears out in an hour. Out of the two I picked- Liya and JLO, JLO reminds me of the color mom used to wear very often in those early days! If you are looking for a bright pink, with moderate pigmentation - Liya should be your pick. Both lipcolors wear a good 3-4 hours with light meals and leave a pink tint behind which makes your pigmented lips look beautiful.

Nailcolor: The nailcolor by Aishwarya is a hot pink shade that can brighten up any look. I wore 2 coats and without a top coat. It has lasted a good 4 days without chipping or losing the lustre.

The Red carpet look for #Cannes2015

Putting this post up for all girls out there who love to feel like a princess on their red carpet!
This was the dress I wore to the #Cannes2015 press-con and in my photo shoot with Sonam Kapoor & Katrina Kaif before they flew for Cannes 2015. See the Cannes 2015 Makeup collection here.

I wore a simple dress from Oasis UK (bought from a fleamarket around!) . It cost me Rs.500 :)
My heels are from a sale in Nine West & ofcourse my makeup is by L'oreal- On my lips- L'oreal Color Riche in Pure Rouge by Freida from Pure Reds collection. On my eyes- Gelmatic eyeliner . Hope you love the look!

The Cannes fairy-dust is spreading like magic as dreamy-eyed girls like you and me are glued to our computer /mobile screens in anticipation of RED CARPET glamor at this year's Cannes Film Festival . I was part of the exclusive bloggers brigade in India chosen for Team Marvellous matte with Sonam Kapoor. Ofcourse matte is my favorite and Sonam too and sharing the frame with her was a true delight. She looked angelic in her Ashi Studio gown.Just then, I had the privilege of sneaking into Team Gloss too as Katrina walked in too. {REVIEW} Pure Reds by L'oreal Paris

"How many shades of RED lipstick do you need?" they asked. She said"That question is complex and intriguing".

L'oreal has put me exactly into the same frame of mind. I'm overwhelmed with the selection & can't decide. There was a time, when I would endlessly search for my perfect red. With these 7 exquisite matte shades that are chosen by 7 ionic L'Oréal Paris ambassadors, including Aishwarya Rai,Sonam Kapoor,Freida Pinto and Blake Lively, L'oreal has done the impossible!
What a girl wants? Never-ending choice of Matte Reds. The Color Riche Pure Reds by L'oreal Paris are intensely pigmented, stay on forever (upto 8 hours with meals) and can never go wrong! Its the same formula as the Moist Mat collection from L'or Lumiere Cannes 2014 collection, which I swore by! Its velvet matte and unlike matte lippies,doesnt accentuate fine lines on the lips!

It was long ago when I checked if this will interest you- How to wear RED lipstick & how to choose one. And yes, this post covers both! And so many of you who answered yes, would be happy to see the post!

How to APPLY RED LIPSTICK:

1. Always rub lip-balm onto your lips about 15mins before application.
2. Use a gentle scrub like sugar to wipe off the balm and make way for smoother lips.
3. (Optional) If you are headed to a Party, a lip plumper can do wonders . Use Sally Hansen or any other you may get your hands on. A perfect pout begins with a plumper!
4. Line your lips with a lip-liner and fill them completely . Choose the lip-liner based on your lip's skin-color. It pays to have 2-3 liners in various shades of red (Maroon/Poppy Red/True Red) . You can blend them to get the right shade.
5. Finally swipe the red lippie in small strokes to fill your lips evenly. Blot with a tissue and add more swipes.

Tada!!! You have the most irresistible pout you ever saw on yourself! Try it and tell me how it felt!

And now, for your perfect PURE RED from L'oreal Paris ;check the swatches below! It can get tricky ;)

1. My first look is PURE ROUGE by Freida Pinto. Its a TRUE RED (neutral) and was picked for me by Namrata Soni. This is the most pigmented shade of the lot. 1 Swipe and you will be surprised, needless to say, its a universal red- almost like Ruby Woo and suits any skintone! Perfect for anytime of the day-this shade screams perfection!

 2. Pure Brick by Aishwarya Rai : As the name suggests , its a brick red shade . This can be worn at work effortlessly without attracting extra attention to your lips and still getting to wear your RED!

3. Pure Scarleto by Blake Lively:  Pure Scarleto is a mysterious one here! Its bright- and on my pigmented lips, it looked like a dark pink-ish red without the liner. This shade will work well with medium to fair skintones. Preferably worn in the evening,under dim candle-lights :)

4. Pure Vermeil by Fan Bingbing: Bordering heavily on a pinkish coral side, this red can be the perfect "first red" to a girl's collection. Its fresh and looks more pink than red. In the bullet it looks red, but a younger version of it ;) Absolutely perfect for day-time wear and definitely an all-skintone color!

5. Pure Amaranthe by Gong Li : This is another deep-pinkish shade for someone who loves a hint of pink with a bit of RED. This shade is perfect for medium-fair skin-tones . 

6. Pure Fire by Li Bingbing : Achtung! This has to be the hottest (literally) shade of the collection. This glamorous Red will set you on fire. Its like wearing "flame of the forest" flowers on your lips with a dash of Neon. An orange Red (maybe , I will drop the word "RED") ,this shade is the most difficult to wear on its own. Combined with a red lip-liner, this complements cool skin-tones with its warmth. I have even worn it to office- A toned down version by wearing it under a brick-red lip liner. It looked fabulously fresh and unique. 

7. Pure Garnet By Sonam Kapoor: ONe look at the bullet and you are reminded of those lippies from your mom's make-up drawers. Yes, this is the same maroon-red that our mom's were smitten with . I don't see myself wearing this often, but a little birdie told me I should try! This shade will complement all skin-tones but its upto you if you want to add that "maturity" to your look.

I loved doing these jumpy shots,because everyone around didnt bother. If you look closely, you see 2 couples almost so much in love. There was a certain air of romance and people dont shy, In france, the expression of LOVE is to let go, SET FREE- sealed with a kiss ;)

Hello folks!

I know you were waiting for these posts for a while now. I so wanted to reach Paris & discover that it was overly-hyped but NO! I fell in the trap. This beautiful city is indeed a gem. So dense, so artsy, even an year would be less to discover every interesting thing about this well-preserved capital. I will be telling you more about the city in my travel section, for now lets get back to our favorite-THE CLOTHES!

Paris is the fashion capital of the world and this made me google extensively on what i should wear to look as stylish as every Parisian around.I had all the pretty dresses with lace, stripes and flare on my mind, ofcourse complete with bumblebee glasses and a pretty hat. But ,SUPRISE! I did none of that. Forecasts said temperature range would be between 10-15 degrees and I didnt want to rattle in the cold like last year in Rome! ANOTHER SURPRISE: The parisians dress very much like how I did in Autumn. Every youngster has an edgy punk-rock-ISH vibe about his/her clothing. None of them really feminine. Though I did see the grandmas wearing the kind of stuff we imagine parisians would wear!

I carried 2 boots- The BEST idea ever. The trick is to keep your feet warm and the rest of the body can bear a little lesser warm clothes. Two warm tights to wear with the boots- The Marks & Spencer thermal tights did a wonderful job(Will show in the next post). Two Jackets- One I wore here: My favorite jacket ever from Debenhams( Got it for Rs.1700 in SALE,MRP 5500). Its a steal and ups your glamor quotient instantly- yes those frills make it look so awesome!

For my face, I wanted a nude look- So i opted for bold eyebrows( eyebrow liner + Loreal Kajal Magique) and Bourjois lip liner in No.12 and Deborah Milano Atomic Matt in No.2 . Wore Za Collagen cream with with my Rimmel London BB CREAM and BOOM- I loved how this turned out!

I wore this to the LOUVRE musuem , yeah , a date with Monalisa had to have a HEART! This quilted heart cropped top is warm and I got it for dirt cheap in Bandra(Rs.250) . It might still be around hill road , if you may want! No, I am not giving away this one yet! Hope you enjoy this look!

Loreal Paris Lucent Magique Blush in Fuschia Flush {REVIEW}

The Loreal Paris Lucent Magique blush is a collector's delight. Even before it was delivered to my doorstep , I knew my purse will have to make space for this glamorous touch-up box. This is what the L'oreal Paris website says about the blush:

3 colour pigments give an immediate rosy, healthy glow
- The blush is lightweight to wear and leaves the skin comfortable
- Makes your cheeks looks fuller, more radiant and youthful

I can't agree more with all the 3 points. Each is true.

The Blush comes in 4 shades:

1. Sunset glow
2. Blushing Kiss
3. Duchess Rose
4. Fuschia flush

For a dark and cool skin-tone like mine, fuschia flush was the brightest choice and boy! Was i right!
This intensely pigmented blush has to be applied with care as it imparts too much pigment with every stroke. The only drawback for starters is that they will have to do a trial and error with the blending to know which combination out of the 3 shades suits them best.

Now,the FUSCHIA FLUSH palette contains:

From top to bottom:
1.Baby pink highlighting shade with gold microscopic particles
2. Bright Rose matte shade
3. Fuschia with purplish microscopic shimmer particles

Clearly this palette will suit every cool skin-tone whether you are fair-medium-dark or very dark. The shine is subtle or bold based on how much product you use.
As you have read the review above, this palette is a must-have for those who don't want to be caught with dull black packaged blushes in parties besides being equally functional for those glamorous parties with friends.

For me, the moment I put on this blush, I feel festive as it instantly adds a happy glow. After all festivals are all about being happy! So find out your Lucent magique shade as you are worth it this festive season!

Like last year, these are my most favorite PINKs that I totally love . ( I own some of these , btw)
Every year I fondly create my selection of favorite pinks, only to talk about PINKTOBER- or OCTOBER,the Breast cancer awareness month- in a PRETYY pleasing way. As a woman, I feel its my duty to be aware and let everyone around me be aware of how to detect this disease by self-examination.
Click this link and follow the 5 steps for self-examination. This can detect the disease in its early stage and prevent the trauma. I have vowed to write this article every year, so we remind ourselves of how precious our lives are and that sometimes, we can take charge!

Last year I was invited to the Pinktober talk at HRC and my awareness towards breast cancer was given a boost. I was in a "Cancer ONLY kills" state of mind. It was last year that I lost my dad to lung cancer. He was a non-smoker, non-drinker, yet he was detected in the last stage of lung cancer! I was heart-broken but I never gave up, also because he was a strong man. We fought so hard ,even though doctors gave up all hope,but this disease had its own plans. The worst nightmare , cancer not only troubles the patient , but emotionally drains the loved ones.

Luckily for breast cancer, a self examination is possible.Learn it and follow it!

Khoobsurat moment # 4: Taming the Bird’s Nest

What is a fashion-blogger’s life like? 

Ideating/writing/blogger meets/shoots/events .These 4 words pretty much sum it all. No matter how glossy it seems because of the various Front-page & page-3 events we mark our presence with, it is equally stressful.

On weekdays, after-work hours generally end in events hosted by various brands. Last Friday, I was invited to style myself for a stylish event and it was post 6pm. I took a phantom rickshaw ride to the place which was about an hour away. Yea, and you thought we always get pick-up drops!!!

By the time I reached, the rickshaw guy had almost killed me with his amazing braking skills at the speed of 100km/hr on 100 meter stretches! I got out of the phantom ride with hair looking like they were planted on my head by pigeons while I was cooking that famed Birbal’s khichdi for hours outdoors.

I walked in without caring how I looked, as if that was the latest hair trend I drank some water ,filled my tummy with hours de vours and styled myself in my favorite Pakshi dress which had sparrow prints on it. While in the trial room, I brushed my hair with patience & love. They were tamed to my surprise in 5 mins. No gel used!

When I came out for the shoot, the first thing the photographer told me, “I can’t believe you fixed that nest on your head inside the trial room! My God, was there some magic wand to make your hair look so bouncy?”

I felt amazing because it came from Bollywood paparazzo, who takes pictures of all Bollywood celebs at various events. Yet another #KhoobsuratMoment. While I happily posed for the shutterbugs, I quietly thanked L’Oreal Paris for having me try the Casting Crème Gloss . You have given me gorgeous moments!!!
