Hello June! Hello humid weather!

I have had an overdose of the sun thanks to the shoots on weekends and my meetings on weekdays.
But I am not complaining, thanks to a disciplined skincare routine and drinking lots of water. Hope you are hydrating yourself well too and the rains are just around the corner!

This  shoot was one of the most fun filled shoots because I had my friend to help me out, with the drape and she decided to stay back to see how our shoots look like. Naturally, It was hilarious for her to watch the BTS and be a part of the madness.

I dropped my cousin at the airport which was a few weeks ago at 6.30 am and packed this pretty saree from Triveni Ethnics in my jhola bag. I packed a bindi strip, lipsticks, bangles & neckpieces that I could find and my glares, everything while i was half sleepy. At 7 , we were at my friends place and realised we had no safety pins to secure the drape. Guess what, I didn't even have a petticoat. So I wore this saree over a linen pant . I can't even imagine how we managed to pull this , laughing our way throughout and draping it under 15 mins, thanks to her!

I cant begin to tell you how pleased I am with the Triveni online ordering system. I can't believe that a saree amateur like me, keyed in measurements for a blouse and got it like i imagined- all thanks to their descriptive measurement process complete with indicative images. A saree's beauty lies in the way you do the blouse. I wanted something contemporary that goes with my personality . So I was sure I wanted a crop-top like blouse which i could use with a pair of denims thereafter.

There is also an option to attach a reference image and so I attached a reference image of the blouse.  The whole measurement process is explained with diagrams as you enter your measurements one by one. I didn't even have a proper measuring tape . I used a metal measuring tape used for measuring spaces! And the team at Triveni just got it right. The blouse was 100% as per my expectations. Its unbelievable . You must give it a try. My eyes are on their lehanga collections which are so perfect for summer weddings and extremely affordable . Enjoy the edit!

{Luxury} SPA by JW : The Promise of a NEW YOU!

A hard working girl needs her SPA moments. And I am a firm believer of reserving some Me-time to rejuvenate after a working spree. I have tried one of the best Thai massage spas in India and I am a repeat customer as I love Thai spas more than any other.

The JW Marriott Sahar near the international airport in Mumbai has been a beautiful sight since its inception and I was keen to see how their world class spa felt like.

For the first time, I just want to write the verdict of my experience first ,instead of at the end: the "SIGNATURE SPA by JW " treatment swept me off my senses. The most beautifully calming 90 mins of my life. And I say this with so much conviction, because I have never felt like this before after a spa treatment. I spent almost 3 hours in the spa and when I came out, I was a new person. It was as if I landed after a 10 day European vacation.  No kidding!

It was unbelievable how refreshed I was and it felt that this calm will stay with me for a few days to come. And it did- just like after a vacation.

Here's The specifics: ( * I guarantee, you will shower me with a million thanks!)

SPA Treatment I chose: "Signature SPA by JW"  as on MENU. (Read menu by clicking)
 Description on the menu card: Surrender to a relaxing experience with a Thai massage stretching followed by a specially designed massage using deep renewal and slow rhythmic movements. (90 MINUTES)

The SPA: I was welcomed with a tea which tasted very minty and strong. I was then recommended the treatment and given a spa tour. The changing rooms have lockers where you can keep your belongings and use your own lock code. Its funny how the room doesn't have doors. You might feel uncomfortable at the thought of someone walking in as you change! But this is the only thing, I would have liked to change about this spa. The spa has express treatments on their world class SPA chairs , the only ones in the whole of ASIA! These treatments run from 12 mins to 40 mins based on how much time you have. These really work for the busy professional who is staying their night at the hotel. Express treatments include massages like - express scalp/neck/back/arm/aching feet/tense shoulders/hydrating hands. The other treatments are categorized as : CALM/INDULGE/RENEW/INVIGORATE. Each category has a tea by that name which you can buy from the shop as its loaded with goodness of aromatic and therapeutic herbs. Since my treatment was under "INDULGE" my tea was indulge tea and sadly out of stock!

The treatment: This signature spa treatment was a combination of thai massage releasing tension from the stressed parts of the body right from the head to the toe. I had a painful shoulder from about 2 years due to carrying my laptop daily . While I tried various massages before, never was the pain healed. I couldnt believe after this massage, my shoulder pain was gone! I cant thank the therapist enough. Also, the stretching loosens up the body greatly relieving all the tension. The who ambience is lit up in candle light as the soothing music plays ,calming the mind and the body. As the masseuse works her magic with a peppermint based scrub with select essential oils, the deep tissue massage leads you to a peaceful slumber! I didn't realise how the 90mins came to an end. I was then given the "INDULGE " tea. After this, I went into the Sauna room. It was the best way to perspire and activate the respiratory system. The sauna heat lets you stay there for about 20mins and you start sweating profusely. The skin feels clean and the whole body feels detoxed. After the sauna. I went into the steam room . I generally have trouble in steam rooms, because they are hazy and I find it difficult to breathe the steam. I stayed for about 10mins and finally headed for a shower. After the shower , I went back into my locker room, changed and blew dried my hair in the vanity room. It felt like home. This treatment was priced around 7750 and is worth every penny considering the final outcome. Its bliss, beyond words! I didn't want to go back!

[REVIEW] : Braun Silk Epil 5 Epilator

2016 boasts of the hottest temperatures all around and we are craving for the rains already. Winter wardrobes have gone back into dry-clean mode for most of us. Time to get the prettiest summer dresses in the daily-wear list.

I love summers, because of the summer dresses, oh well , mangoes,aam panna, popsicles and a lot more! You will agree, Summers become tougher for us girls, as we constantly need to ensure smooth, hair-free legs. I embraced shaving over waxing for the longest times I have known. That tells you I am such a chicken; the idea of waxing makes me run like one!

Shaving is convenient and fast. Though in a week's time, hair-growth bothers again. I have never tried epilation except for the Braun face epilator I tested.

First Time Epilation experience:

I was getting late for a party and decided to use the BRaun silk epil 5 for the first time. This was a risky decision but I had confidence in the product owing to my experience with the face epilator. I was shaky at the thought of turning on the device. But PRESS PLAY, and I ran the epilator head in the air touching my leg on frequent intervals based on the pain. What kind of pain you may ask- like someone pricking the leg with a thorn. Yes, it feels you are walking through a bush of thorns. Because you are scared of this feeling, you tend to be real slow with the whole process. I took 30 minutes to do both my legs! Whoa! And was i tired ! On each leg after almost 7-8 minutes of epilation, the leg gets used to the intensity  of the prick and then you find it easier to epilate.

I didnt use a shaving gel, but I washed my legs before epilation to make the hair bed moist. After epilation, I took a bath and felt better. It wasnt that bad! I can totally see myself daring the act again. But why should i? To answer this, I waited 2 weeks. The legs now showed little hair growth , though not even. This meant I could wear summer dresses for straight 2 weeks! This is surely better than shaving.

What I also noticed was that the BRAUN  booklet recommends epilation every week in the first month of use. I think this might change the behaviour of hair growth. So yes, I read this late ,but I will try to follow and get back with an update.

If you are epilating after a long time, and your hair grow considerably long, you can shave them first with shaver head and then use epiltor head. I specially like the concept of the massager head. It stimulates the skin with gentle vibration leading to a less painful experience.

Maintenance:
- Remember ,this is a no-share product. Please get 1 for each member in the family!
- After epilation, you can clean its tweezing blades with the cleaning brush.
- If you have used a shaving gel, dont forget to wash it under the tap.
- The charging unit takes 1 hour to charge the epilator. Charge lasts upto 30 minutes of cordless use.     Do not use with the cord.
- After the battery life diminishes, you might have to replace the battery at a Braun service centre.
- The shaving head needs to be oiled every 3 months. It might need replacement after continuous usage. Though I would not be keen on using this. But since I haven't tried it, I will update this space later.

Will I recommend this product? 
- Yes. This is certainly a better option over shaving because you get longer hair-free time! The legs are smoother after day 1 as compared to shaving. You will have to give it the necessary time, before it grows on you! I think I will be able to tell you more once I have used to for about 3-4 times. So lets wait more and watch this space !

[Review] La Vie En Rose for the dusky Skin

L'oreal Paris has been wooing the hearts of lipstick lovers, since they launched one of the most successful range - The Pure Reds. It had bright shades that suit all skintones just like that!The perfect reds were found!And I totally swear by all of them. I had so many HG shades in a single collection!

 L'oreal Paris has now come up with the La Vie En Rose collection which promises a pink for everyone. I am a die-hard pink obsessed girl. I can have everything in pink, even my breads :P

 Its never difficult to find a pink, so there are high expectations from this range! Also, following the successful pure reds, the pinks have big shoes to fill. When I made my selection from the la vie en rose collection, Unlike the pure reds collection, I found only few pinks suited the dusky/dark skintone .Most of the pinks are very light and sheer. There is however, one noticeable thing about these lippies, they smell like your mom's dressing table from the 90s. That rose smell is so reminiscent of the early days when we envied Mom's collection. Nostalgia might grip, I warn.

 So, Here's your guide to the perfect La Vie En rose pinks, if you are a dusky/dark skintone girl.

L'extraordinaire Mat: I just knew these shades were meant for the dusky/dark skintone and beautifully so. This formula in liquid lipcolors is one of the better ones L'oreal has ever launched. These colors pop bright like never before and after a few minutes of application settle to a semi-matte tint. Again, they are buildable and leave behind a beautiful tint, after heavy meals. I downed a bowl of nachos and bean sliders without losing any of the intensity of the gorgeous "Magnolia" by Julianne. Hands down my favorite shade. Also, in this picture Magnolia was just applied. After 10 minutes it became a really beautiful color brighter than what it shows here. Sonam's Azalea comes a close second and looks extremely beautiful in pictures as you can see- the perfect Hot PINK! You gotta grab them both.

Color Riche Moist Mat: Unlike the previous moist mat range, these lippies run sheer and are buildable to a color that actually shows on the bullet. This however, makes it necessary to wear a lipliner if you have pigmented lips as the lipcolor pigmentation is moderate. The finish isn't matte but satin.They are also very hydrating. As I said they smell of lovely roses or rhubarb, but the fragrance naturally wears out in an hour. Out of the two I picked- Liya and JLO, JLO reminds me of the color mom used to wear very often in those early days! If you are looking for a bright pink, with moderate pigmentation - Liya should be your pick. Both lipcolors wear a good 3-4 hours with light meals and leave a pink tint behind which makes your pigmented lips look beautiful.

Nailcolor: The nailcolor by Aishwarya is a hot pink shade that can brighten up any look. I wore 2 coats and without a top coat. It has lasted a good 4 days without chipping or losing the lustre.

{ REVIEW } BRaun Face Epilator & Cleanser 810

I am a low-fuss person when it comes to taking care of my skin. Not because I have a problem free skin , but because its extremely demanding. The combination acne prone skin is the most tricky one to take care of. Over the years, I have shortlisted the products that keep my skin sane.

In short, I need a moisturizer, cleanser and BB cream to take me through the day. The more I experiment with skin masks/toners etc, the more it acts up.

When I came across the Braun face epilator, I was resistant. I just felt this product might not be something I can incorporate in my regime for 2 reasons: 1. I have the fear of a anything that stings/pains. 2. I wasn't sure if pore-cleansing with a brush would please my acne prone skin.

However, the Braun team, just said one thing- Try it. You might be surprised. So , there I was holding the product with all inhibitions and least hopeful of it doing any wonders .But then, to make myself at ease, just like you are reading this review, I went on to read all beauty blogs that have tried this product. The reviews were positive and I now felt prepared to give this a shot.

Beauty is skin deep. And as Jessica Alba, Braun Beauty ambassador puts it- Braun face gives women the confidence & freedom to either wear makeup or not. So lets see, how this product got close to its claims!


First Look:

1. Lightweight ,Sleek and travel-friendly ( 340gm )
2. Good grip
3. Swapping the cleansing head with the epilator head slightly tricky as its a no-twist mechanism where you directly pull the heads to swap.
4. The brush bristles are silky soft 
5. Looks very chic, kind of justifying the price tag. ( MRP: 4900, Available online on Amazon at INR 3999)

First use: Cleansing

1. I used a face wash on my face and then used the cleansing option for about 5 minutes.
2. The vibrations are very minor and you dont even hear the motor spinning the cleansing head
3. The brush is very gentle on the face unlike how you might think looking at the pictures here
4. The face feels fresh and clean post usage
5. No irritation was felt post cleasing and I can easily use this thrice in a week, or maybe daily in summers.
6. I will post my experience after continuous use in a few days.


First use: Epilator

1. This epilator is meant for the face, but I am such a chicken. I have never used any products to pull hair from my face. Yes, I dont even do my eyebrows, thanks to my genes, I dont need to. So how did I test the epilator you ask?

Well, I used it on the fine hairs on my fingers. The epilator head can move in two directions, clockwise and anticlockwise and you get the hang of it once you notice the direction of the hair against which you need to run the epilator. Each pull feels like a quick sting , but no pain thereafter.
You might feel a little tenderness at the spot but within minutes , that feeling is gone. And what precision! Much better than a razor for such fine hair.

I stayed hair-free for 2 weeks and saw very little growth in the 3rd week.


Verdict: And yes, I dont call it the final verdict because I am still using the cleansing brush and need to be more regular with it. So yes, to remove makeup, impurities , from the skin, this cleansing option technically does a better job than regular cleansing with your hands.

The epilator certainly will surprise you with its ease of use and results. Its a win-win situation as both attachments are extremely useful and do their job well. I still feel the price tag of 4900, might be a little steep for the Indian market. The cleansing brush needs to be replaced every 3 months as recommended however, I couldnt find refills in the market, so I will be checking with Braun on this. This Face 810 is certainly a keeper and takes grooming to another level of ease! You must give it a go!

{ Review + GIveaway } Za Total Hydration Cleanser

Hello ! Hello ! Hello !

Tells you how excited the festive season makes me. The slight nip in the air, the possibility of wearing boots and winterwear and enjoying a movie under the quilt with a Hot soup- Are all good things this season is made of!

Also, the season, when your skincare needs change with the dry weather. Today in my kitty is the Vogue 2015 Beauty Award winner. The Za Total Hydration Cleanser with Vitamin E. I am lucky to have been introduced to the Za range of skincare. Finally a brand that caters to the skincare needs of Indians. The Total hydration range was launched 2 months ago, and I can't tell you how excited that made me! I already swear by the Total Hydration Amino Mineral Refreshing Gel. If you have an oily skin- don't wait to grab this! And now for this cleanser, here are my views:

Form: This is a foamy cleanser- Remember your dad's shaving cream? ;) Yes, exactly that. It has a fresh citrusy fragrance which again reminds me of dad's shaving cream :D It also has cleansing granules, though I never understood how the products with granules are different, because most of the times, we might just wash away the granules without crushing them!

How to Use: Squeeze half-pea sized amount onto your palm. Lather and massage on the face. A little quantity goes a long way so don't be greedy! Wash off in seconds, don't keep it for more than a minute .


First Impressions: After the first wash, the face felt squeaky clean. Scary because, this means it can be drying on my face! But I waited a while, and realised it didn't dry my face at all. I have a combination skin. So I tend to have dry cheeks . This cleanser was able to strike the balance on a combination skin. The fragrance makes you smell like fresh lemons. Have you secretly admired that fragrance when your dad just did a shave !!! Then , this cleanser delivers that exact one!

This also means, its the perfect unisex cleanser. If you have an oily/combination skin, you can surely end up liking this cleanser because it leaves you so FRESh! As for dry skin, I would wait for one of you to tell me how you felt.

Massage has a long history of therapeutic healing in Thailand. Practiced for centuries, the roots of Thai massage are traced to Indian beginnings about 2,500 years ago and it has been one of the most effective and revered forms of massage practiced all over the world.

The Chinese and the Indians were believed to have greatly influenced the therapies and treatments developed in The Kingdom of Thailand. The theoretical basis of Thai massage lies in the theory of energy lines running throughout the body. Out of the 72,000 energy lines said to be in existence, the focus is on the 10 major lines called “sen”. Important acupressure points are found on these lines. Treatment for the whole body, different organs and diseases are often done by using the system of the 10 “sen”.

What I have tried so far:

1. Thai Traditional Foot Massage ( 1650 Rs)
2. Thai Foot massage with 2 therapists ( 3750)
3. Foot massage with back ,neck and shoulder  (to be updated )
4. Foot massage with Hot stones (to be updated )
5. Foot massage with Herb Bun (to be updated )

As you can see I have tried all the therapies so far except the one with scrub. My experience was wonderful in each of these therapies! 

My favorite therapies:

1.       Thai Traditional Foot Massage -60 minutes

2.       Foot massage with back ,neck and shoulder  -90 minutes

There are reclining massage chairs on which all therapies are performed. For all the massages, they start with placing your feet in a bowl of lukewarm water and wash it with their hands using soaps. A clean towel is used to wipe them and then the feet are placed on a soft stool. Massage oil with a strong eucalyptus aroma is then applied on the feet and the therapy begins. During the therapy they use stick like objects to press the pressure points on the feet. The massage also involves twisting and turning of the entire leg imitating some of the yogasanas. One becomes aware of all the parts of the feet that never existed! The mantra to get the best out of this session is to let go as the therapist applies pressure on various parts of the feet that might pain ,because its only for the good. At the end , the experience makes you want to get a massage every single week!
